You must be logged in to the community site to view your course group. If you have not yet logged in, please follow the instructions under ‘Logging in to the Community Site’ before following these instructions.
In the community site, you will see a menu across the top. Click on the ‘iLOC’ tab.
You will see a navigation bar across the top of the page. If you are registered in a course as an online participant, then you should see a little inverted triangle on the ‘iLOC’ tab. When you hover your mouse over the ‘iLOC’ tab, you will see drop-down menu items for each of the courses for which you are an online participant. When the drop-down appears, move your mouse down over the desired class and click on it. If you do not see the inverted triangle and no drop-down menu appears, then the system is not yet recognizing you as an online participant in that course. Please send a message to Luke through the community site or call the office for assistance.
You will be taken to your iLOC classroom. You will simply see a black video screen with a moving circle unless there is a live feed (such as during class or during a test session).
You will see the chat system at the lower right-hand corner of the screen. There are two gray bars that represent the two components of the chat system.
The gray bar on the right reads “X people here”. If you click on that bar, you will see a list of all of the online participants that are currently logged in. You can click on the bar again or on the top of that box (where it says “Chat with people on this site”) to make the box minimize again. There is a line at the bottom in which you can put a status message, but this is generally not necessary.
The gray bar on the left contains the name of the course or seminar. If you click on that bar, you will see the chat that is taking place among online participants.
You can add a question or comment by typing it into the line at the bottom and pressing the Enter key on your keyboard.
If you click on either the top or bottom of the box, where you see the name of the course, the box will minimize. If the chat box is minimized and someone adds a question or comment, a little red circle will notify you of this, and you can expand the box to read and respond.
The chat is a great way to communicate with other online participants during a class or to share questions or comments with the presenter. Questions or comments to the presenter that are communicated through the chat box are conveyed to the presenter and onsite participants by the moderator.
NOTE: If you are having any difficulty with this process, you are welcome to call the office at 215-844-4321 ext 1. We are always happy to help get your account set up and to answer any questions about how the site works!
