Supervision is a crucial part of the therapist's training and development, and so it is a required part of the Center's certificate training programs in Contextual Therapy, Advanced Child Development, and Sandtray Therapy. Supervision allows for the synthesis of the course material into the therapists' unique settings, such as clinics, managed care, foster care, and diverse private practice settings. This is especially helpful since there is not sufficient time during class to answer the detail of questions that come up when addressing an individual case.

We recommend that all therapists who are training here continue with supervision with a minimum of one individual hour or two group hours per month. Even a therapist with years of experience may encounter a clinical situation that really needs some extensive consultation and the willingness to keep learning. Extensive supervision is also a component of the Mentoring Program, in which the therapist, who has completed about half of the trainings in Mindfulness Based Play-Family Therapy, works with three families for three years, under the guidance of one of the Center's supervisor therapists.
